we had the best weekend……..the DPC camped out on friday night and paddled into the sunshine at 6am Saturday morning and finished with a session at the bay Sat evening..6 surfs 3 days
from knee to shoulder high in brilliant sunshine…..
a BBQ autumn…

the month of May sped by like a japanese bullet train………………….

….half term…… paddle stuff………..some sun……….bad weather forecasts………
took some photos……………lifeguard training…YEP I’m a red short now!!!!!!!!!!
endless phone conversations…………….RNLI BBQ at the boat jumble…………… more time on the water……………..42 foot canadian canoes………………………the festival……………………BAY FM…………………………………and more time on the padddle………….kids…………………..a little surf…………….a good day missed………….the ever onward slog of the media driven recession……………………..friends splitting up…………………..new website………………..new logo…………………………..new stock………………..grew a beard……………………………………………………………..fishing……………fell out with a mate………….made it up………..petrol up ………..stag do…………………and next week a wedding…………..not too many sunny days at the beachhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………..kite festival………….more kids and adults paddling……………………………….made centre spread SUP mag……………………………………….and before I knew it June had arrived……………………….
i want to get off the train……………SO…….gonna have a rest tomorrow………..maybe a paddle………..
and sit in the garden pondering the ivy………..

paddle surfer or just surfer does such a distinction exist ….?
where does all the aggression flow from…..usually from misconceptions I believe

This weeks contention made the blog of local surf journalist for The TImes..Adam Zervas sent me the copy..see Alex Wades column and have a think…..
and then decide who you want to be KOOK or KOOL??

well I understand that the incident referred to in the article was a lot simpler as the paddlesurfers and surfers were all the same posse out having a good time swopping boards….Why blame the type of watercraft..Its the rider that counts
And what am i going to do>>>>>>
well I’ve offered Alex Wade a session and that way we’ll see what his view is paddler?surfer?

Paddle Club

We will be starting a paddle club….it’s for all of you ladies mens kids that want to take advantage of the sea but neither have the time, know how or the money…we’ll teach you how to paddle on the new boards and get you riding waves where possible….It’ll be every Friday 4th April from 4pm onwards, we’ll meet outside the surf lifesaving club on the seafront!! call or mail us to register your interest!
Why..well the bsupa.org have asked me to judge their wave competitions this year-an honour in itself
…and that led me to think about the training programme for a stand up paddle teaching qualification which doesn’t as yet exist but will soon. I would like to help put that together ..and so we’re looking for guinea pigs..

In addition we will be puting 6-10 boards on the seafront for use by club members..fees start at £15 per month per person for the try-out period..Interested call me or mail me tids 01395 227007 or Matt harbour 01395 277632 and register your details on the database and we’ll let you know when the first friday will start ..Easter ..probably!
