Don’t wanna come home!

Posted in Tid's Bits at 6:42 am by Sambo

So it’s nearly time for me to come back. And I don’t wanna!

The wind here at Kirra is pretty reliable, if only I could say the same for my ability! Averaging 3-4 sessions a week I guess. Had an awesome 5 hours this morning, down the line on head high rights. Got mashed many times, but came up smiling most of the time. Started to feel like I’m riding like I’d be able to, gybing, bottom and top turning etc pretty reliably now too, so smiles all around.

I am missing riding with mates though, it get’s a bit boring self launching and landing every time, and being the only one out - not that I’m posing at them, but it’s nice to see (a few) others out sometimes. I had a kraut come up to me today, and say something as I was setting up to self launch. I got to the bar, then he started trying to pick the kite up. I was shouting and waving my arms at him, but he didn’t get it. In the end I just shouted loud insults at him until he dropped it and wandered off. I s’pect he was trying to help, but you know how it is!

Home next week, pour me a hot water bottle, and dust off my winter suit!

Have put some pics up for you, but dunno if they show up!

dormouse hibernates ……..work stops

Posted in Tid's Bits at 3:01 pm by tidders

we all continually get amazed by the inconsistencies we see …..
a politically correct society gone mad: insisting headscarfs are “a question of choice” but banning a crosson a necklace as it may show religious bias etc. etc.
and we probably all feel a little aggrieved about the acceptance of this by all local authorities etc…

So try this one:
My father in law John Parker..a country man through and through- loves to hunt…..has the boys from the Gas pipeline supplier putting a pipe through his fields… He loses a bit of land .. but it’s a good earner…
there in the field diggers men lorries all stopped…now he’s used to this, he also knows they have to pay him more the longer they take so he casually lollops over, pushes back his cap to watch a gaggle of men in muddied site wellies and jackets surrounding a more fluorjacketed clean-welly official..
apparently work has to be stopped (15 men 3 machines one lorrry later) because…. “there is a doormouse hibernating in the area.”
One “expert’” and his team are employed for 4 days to find the little blighter… whilst the men and machinery wait….

eventually a local wanders in from the road holding a poor squashed doormouse by his flattened tail..is this what you’re looking for????
estimated time of death…3 days 23 hours ago..you know the kind of thing….

well the rains beating down i’m off to get mullered at the bay…….I’ll be back to work tommorrow ……………….door mice or not!

Strapless downunder

So i’ve finally figured out how to post on this site. Things here good. Got ot the gold coast now, and been out on the water a couple of times. Work very laid back about getting out on the water, all the docs here surf too. Bumped into Rob Machado the other day on a shoot for Hurley with the rest of the team. Didn’t speak, but I like to think we had a mutual respect thing going on.

Been riding a 6′0″ strapless in the surf here. A whole lotta fun. Was going well upwind on that with the 11m Tribal when all else were on 16m. Maybe this is the answer to a one kite quiver. Same here as at home, Slings, Naish and Cabrinha everywhere. Peeps have come and spoken to me about F-one (of course I give them the shop number! - number 1 international pimp!), but I haven’t seen any in the air yet.

Hope all well at home, I hear you’ve been having a bit of wind, maybe Blower has remembered how to pump a kite up by now, you never know.

See you guys soon.
