Crystal Palace Slalom Session 17th April 2006
Bank Holiday Monday and a session was definately going down
approx 15 people hooked up for some sunny slalom time on the hallowed slopes of Crystal Palace
Sam Gordon was tearing it apart running some super fast offset courses
you could hear the urethane barking as his back wheels slid around the offsets
The Stride was fast as usual although a big bail in the 1st 10 mins of skating
which made him see stars did slow him down a bit (but only a bit, he was still fast, have no doubt about that)
Mog from Brixton Cycles, riding one of the new Skaterbuilt wood & Formica slalom decks
was stylin, making his fast times look totally effortless and silky smooth
Fran was even seen skating.
i laid down some quicker runs than i had previously managed working on my pumping technique (fran will thank me for that)
I even manage to let loose on a few surrender 360 slides on the steeper slopes of the Park
So next Session Hyde Park on thursday
ONLY 3 WEEKS TILL WASTELAND 2

PS i did my first Catarmaran in about 20 years yesterday !
Well i’ve booked next week off work and am planning to spend the whole week getting the boat finally finished.
Monday: Dunk the seized steering cable in diesel and leave for a few days. Then take the boat up to Chewi’s workshop for the new fibreglass floor and new gel coat on the engine bay,
Tuesday: Back to the farm, put engine components back together, try and start the engine on a bech just in case theres any problems……………………………..you know there will be, its a boat!
Wednesday: Overcome the teething problems, drop the engine in and reconnect everything.
Thursday: Hope the steering cables has free’d itself up. Re-connect the steering cable and throttle cable. Final checks and then off to the nearest patch of water for firts attempt.
Friday: Honestly??? Probably cursing and swearing and still trying to getb the engine running!
Well, fingers toes and eyes crossed for maiden voyage next week!
Wish me luck ( You know i’ll need it!)

AnticipationSitting waiting
waking up up early hoping today is going to be a great day
whether you are waiting for the wind, the waves or a dry day to roll on your board
its all the same, that great feeling that makes today special
well i am sat at work, My Roe racing Slalom board taking pride of place at my side
at 3pm i will be transformed from smartly dressed stockbroker type
into a tattoooed hoody wearing skater and off to Hyde park to meet some mates to run some cones
always makes me smile the way in which peoples attitudes change towards me when i am in my civvy attire
what a sad bunch you all are !
ChamrouuseWell summer is creeping toward us and we are busy working out what events to hit this year
Bude is always a good one ith its downhill race and slalom
my mate Len the luge reached prob one of the fastest speed down that hill on a luge 50mph
bude is the 8th june and well worth a trip to the north coast
Chamrouuse, ahhh “The Rousse”
Now this is what riding downhill is really about
300 people and one hill, not just one hill one 6 mile hill !!!
thats the equivalent of going from Sowton Ind Estate to the speed cam at Exmouth
I didnt make it last year but 04 we did
12 hour drive across france to hook up with the UK downhill crew
drank with Daryl Freeman (Gravity Games Finalist), got gnarly, got pissed (very pissed indeed )
and our lives went downhill fast
if you only ever go down 1 hill
go down this one, to quote a friend of mine
“that hill changed my life !”
Chamrouuse 26/7/8 July,
